Gastritis Is The Common Gastric Problem That Will Occur In Most Of The Patients. Gastritis Is An Inflammation, Irritation, Or Erosion Of The Lining Of The Stomach. It Can Be Acute Or Chronic.
What Causes Gastritis?
Gastritis can be caused by irritation due to excessive alcohol use, chronic vomiting, stress, or the use of certain medications.

- Burning feeling in the stomach

- Black and tarry stools

After the initial review of personal and family medical history, doctor may suggest some investigations for the diagnosis:
Upper Endoscopy:
In Endoscopy, a thin tube containing a tiny camera is inserted through your mouth into patient’s stomach to look at the stomach lining. The doctor will check for inflammation and if required performs biopsy, in which a tiny sample of tissue is removed and then sent to a laboratory for analysis.
Blood Tests:
The doctor may perform various blood tests for screening of H.pylori infection and anemia with blood samples.
Fecal occult blood test or Stool test:
This test checks for the presence of blood in your stool, a possible sign of gastritis.
Treatment For Gastritis:
Gastritis treatment involves:
- Taking antacids and other drugs
- Avoiding hot and spicy foods
- Gastritis caused by H.pylori infection doctors will prescribe several antibiotics and acid blocking drugs
- Gastritis caused by pernicious anemia B12 vitamin tablets will be given
- Eliminate the irritating foods from your diet.
